Microsoft Releases Internet Explorer 8

Mercury New Media would like to inform you of an important new development in the web industry: Microsoft has announced the release of the latest version of its Internet browser, Internet Explorer 8 (IE8). IE8 is currently available for download from the Microsoft website and soon Microsoft will make the installation of Internet Explorer 8 part of their regular Windows Update releases. Within approximately one month all Windows users will be prompted to install IE8 on their computers.

How the IE8 Release Effects Your Website

Our preliminary research into the IE8 release reveals that the effect on most Mercury New Media websites is very minimal. Microsoft has worked to make IE8 more standards compliant than previous versions. Mercury New Media develops all websites compliant with the latest industry standards and best practices, so most Mercury websites are presenting normally. That said, around 70% of your website audience is using Internet Explorer, so it is important to make sure that those 7 out of 10 people aren’t going to see an incorrect layout when they visit your site.
