We are often asked by new clients and associates, “Where does the name Mercury New Media come from? What does it mean?” They are often surprised to learn that our company name has a very distinct meaning.

Mercury: (n) The Roman god of commerce, eloquence and travel who serves as messenger to the other gods. A bearer of messages or news or a conductor of travelers.

New Media: (n) The name given to a range of digital platforms used in place of physical exchanges to convey information.

Although we don’t consider ourselves gods, the name Mercury New Media reflects our mission to provide services that facilitate commerce and communication using digital media such as websites, intranets and extranets.
